Spotlight on the Internet - European Film Gateway (EFG)

Back in June 2009, there was a blog entry about  a nascent international film portal, "The European Film Gateway." After nearly 3 years in development this EU-sponsored website is now online.   URL:
This is an Internet portal to the digital collections of European film archives, and offers free access to @600,000 digital videos, lantern slides, photos, film posters, and text materials. Users can search for people as well as by film title or keywords. EFG is a component of Europeana, an online collection of millions of digitized items from European museums, libraries, archives and multi-media collections- serving as the platform for the cultural heritage of Europe.

The European Film Gateway web site has been added to the Film & Television Studies Subject Guide - Web Sites - [sub-tab] Archives & Museums.
